In 2009 krijgt aayu architecten de opdracht om de monumentale Da Vinci school in Amsterdam Oud West te transformeren tot een multifunctioneel gebouw. Naast klaslokalen komen er ruimtes voor een crèche, een buitenschoolse opvang, dans-, theater- en yoga- lessen. De renovatie van het monument verloopt geheel volgens de principes van de bouwbiologie en het Cradle-to-Cradle concept. De historische ruimtelijke kwaliteit wordt teruggebracht door onder andere verlaagde plafonds te verwijderen en prachtige togen weer tevoorschijn te halen.Energiebesparing vindt plaats door beperking van de energiebehoefte met behulp van isolatie, bouwmassa en het gebruik van duurzame bronnen zoals uit het zicht geplaatste zonnepanelen. Met deze ingrepen behoudt het pand niet alleen zijn monumentale waarde, maar krijgt het ook een hoge toekomstwaarde. Het multifunctionele ontwerp, het flexibele gebruik en de technische voorzieningen maken het een kind- en milieuvriendelijk monument.
Binnen deze context heeft Beersnielsen lichtontwerpers, de verlichting voor interieur,exterieur en binnentuin geoptimaliseerd.

In 2009, aayu architects was commissioned to transform the monumental Da Vinci school in Amsterdam Old West into a multifunctional building. Besides classrooms , spaces for a nursery, a daycare, dance, theater and yoga classes are creared. The renovation of the monument is fully based on the principles of building biology and the Cradle to Cradle concept. The historical spatial quality is regained by removing ceilings and bring out the beautiful arches.
Energy saving is achieved by reducing the energy use m through insulation, using building mass and the use of renewable energysources such as solar panels placed out of sight. With these interventions not only the value of this monumental property is maintained, but it also gets a high future value. The multifunctional design, flexible use and technical features make it a child and environmentally friendly building.
