Pumping Stations are usually hidden buildings in a city. To visualize the important task of these necessary functions, The Hoogheemraadschap van Schieland en Krimpenerwaard asked Beersnielsen to make a lighting design for Gemaal Schilthuis, Oostplein Rotterdam.
With a capacity of 1,3 million liter water per minute, this pumping station is the most powerfull station in Rotterdam. To show the function of this kind of hidden anonymous building at the back of the square, we highlighted it in blue.
