January 27th the exhibition ‘Designing the Surface’ opened in Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam. This exhibition is all about the final topcoat on surfaces. The curators have chosen five surface-themes; lustre, patina, faux, teflon and agency. Lighting these totally different structures in a well-balanced way, was a fun challenge, especially since each theme has its own designed installation in the exhibition space.
