In the process of facelifting the Bijenkorf’s shops in Amsterdam, Utrecht en Rotterdam, the facade of Bijenkorf Utrecht has been transformed. In addition to the refurbishment of the shopping floors, the facade has been made transparent. Passing by the Bijenkorf, you can see what they sell. The lighting design of the interior and the facade have been designed in such a way that it encourages this transparency.
Designing the lighting plan for the facade Beersnielsen faced several problems. Lighting from the outside was impossible, because of the glass facade and the luminaires at the inside should fit in the lighting design for the shop windows and the shopping floor. In close cooperation with the supplier special luminaires have been developed, so they fit seamlessly in the existing lighting system. Special LED-strips have been used at the height of the floors, to provide extra horizontal accents.
The towers at the corners will be provided with big banners, which will be illuminated with fluorescent tubes.
