Shopping Mall Keyserstroom in Meppel was an old fashioned shopping center in the middle of a rural town. Investor and developer Kroonenberg Groep asked Beersnielsen to increase the attractiveness of the mall with a good lighting design with a modest budget. Our aim was to strengthen the architecture and lay out of the building and to lead people into the mall.
Our lighting design for the mall consisted of two parts:
1. The functional lighting design, which we gave more contrast to add ambiance
2. Highlights such as the roof lights, the big glass roof above the atrium and the entrance. In the entrance we worked with an uplight, which can be adjusted to theme colors if wanted.
The result of this big renovation is a light and transparent meeting area in the middle of the shopping mall. The natural light of the atrium is supported by a clever use of functional light.
