The Spuiplein in the City Center of The Hague will be renewed the comings years. Beersnielsen has been asked to design a lighting design for this characteristic square, which is surrounded by the new concert hall Amare, the library and the city hall of The Hague.
In close cooperation with Okra Landscape Designers, Beersnielsen chose for low lighting poles under the trees and at the waterside, which forms the hart of the square. A vivid and cool area, with warm atmospheric light. The lighting poles are placed randomly under the trees, in the green bed. In the so called ‘Buitenkamer’, the area at the facade of Amare there will be high poles, illuminating an area which is meant for meeting each other, or for small events. The luminaires will be simple with theatre like fixtures.
The green/park and calm area will be lighted by the high and low lighting poles, to create nice shadows through the trees, but there will also be uplights, to create some cozy sitting areas.
We just finished the Design Phase. The actual work on the square will start in 2024.
